Hemendrakumar Roy Rachanabali Vol – VII

Again another treasure trove of excitement as Hemendra Kumar Roy presents two of his thrilling novels, an adaptation and some of his finest chronicles of history.
The volume contains:
1. Abar Jokher Dhon
2. Nrimunda Shikari
3. King Kong
4. Aalo Die Gelo J(n)ara
In ‘Abar Jokher Dhon’ Bimal-Kumar are on a treasure hunt and again their exploits take them to combat the forces of nature and the evils of mankind in the jungles of Africa. ‘Nrimunda Shikari’ starts with Jayanta-Manik’s hunt for the murderer who severs and takes the head of the victim from the streets of Calcutta. Here we again come across the comic character of SundarBabu and his equally comic associates but the main surprise of the story is in the final chapters when the detective duo gets help from the adventurous pair of Bimal-Kumar.
‘King Kong’ is the adaptation of the classic tale of the legendary ape and here the climax is at Calcutta. Nowhere throughout the story has it appeared to be an adaptation and the masterly style of the writing again takes the breath away at times.
But the best are the chapters of ‘Aalo Die Gelo J(n)ara’ where the author has narrated and glorified India’s past by quoting the exploits of history’s unsung heroes and heroines. On occasions he had touched upon world history too. He has recounted tales from the days of Alexander’s invasion of India, the tragic history of Hasan-Husein, chronicles of the courageous Rajputs against the wrath of Allauddin Khilji and many more.

Sorry 2 b so late in replying!! I do not know any publisher who selectively publishes Jayanta Manik adventures but u can buy the Rachanabali's containing their exploits. u hav 2 search thru the Asia publishing catalogue which also mentions the actual content in each volume!!

A lot of novels of Kumar Vimal, Jayanta Manik have not been included in the "HEMENDRA KUMAR ROY RACHANAVALI" By "ASIA PUBLISHING COMPANY".
I have been looking about for those for a long time.
Thanks

Sure I will. But actually I'm not very much conversant with his works and thought Asia Publishing House had collected all of them. I'll surely convey the uncollected works to the publishing house, though I'm quite doubtful. Another thing can u plz reveal ur name so that we can correspond more easily. Actually u c if more than 1 Anonymous comment is received sometimes I cannot understand whether the same person is commenting or not!! But if u don't want to reveal urself it's fine by me!!

Let Anonymous be a mystery for a while. I may introduce myself as BookLover. You should not have doubt about the fact I have pointed out.
Immediately I do not have the complete list right now. I am also looking about for that.
A lot of works of Hemendra Kumar Roy for the Matured readers are out of Print (May be more than 80). And as far as my concern ASIA PUBLISHING Co. has no plan to publish those and no other publisher also interested in this. I inform you that a Novel "Beno Jal" By Hemendra Kumar Roy was published in some magazine replacing some well known Novel of the great Novelist Sarat Chandra Chattapadhaya.
Now I put a brief list of unpublished books of Hemendra Kumar Roy (For Children) :
1) Hatya Ebang Tarpor
2) Neel Chokher Sanket
3) Gahan Rater Chhaya
4) Jader Name Sobai Bhoi Paay
5) Ratre Jara Bhay Dekhay
6) Jagat Shether RatnaKuthi
7) Haradhaner Dweep
8) Galpa Sanchayana
9) Andhar Rater Atithi
10)Jayanter Pratimurtti
11)Bimal Kumarer Keerti Kahinee
12)Digvijayeer Tarabaree
13)Ajab Deshe Amala
14)Ayna Bareete Amala
15)Maynamateer Maya Kanon
And many others Novels or Books
And a lot of short stories have erstwhile not been published.
I am sure they have some of those in their archive. But all may not be in their hand. You may find some of these if you can find those.

Thanks

No problem with your mysterious identitity as long as no other Anonymous also don't start to write under your guise. I don't have any doubt about your information as I'm quite ignorant of the facts myself. Do you know why Asia is not interested in publishing the rest? is it that there is any copyright prob or is it that they are simply not interested?
Since you seem to be a connoisseur in Bengali authors and publishing houses can u help me in collecting Narayan Gangopadhyay Galpa Samagra Vol II published by Mitra Ghosh. actually when they 1s published them, I'd collected only th e1st vol. after that they compiled all the 3 vol in a single vol and I managed to get the 3rd vol that were remaining still. but now as it happens that the entire set is available but the individuals have been marketted off. thus I am missing the 2nd vol without which the collection is more than incomplete!

That was a wonderful site that u sent the link of!! the names of a few of the magazines were known to me and for the rest it was a completely new revelation for me. thank u very much!!

Asia Publishing Company may have had some copyright problems. And they Advertise in the recent Hemendra Kumar Roy Rachanavali that if one possesses some of the unpublished books of Hemendra Kumar Roy, one should allow them to use those and then they will be grateful to one and will present one that book.

I can understand your problem that you have with Narayan Gangopadhyay Galpa Samagra Vol II. But it is very difficult to find it. In coming Book Fair, you may ask Mitra Ghosh if they have some copies. In general they do have some extra copies. If they do not have, then you have to find it in the College Street.
Or you may buy the complete Rachanavali of Narayan Gangopadhyay published by Mitra Ghosh.

Have you ever gone through the unparalleled stories by the great American Author Ray Bradbury? I am looking about for those also. I have read a few of his stories.

No No, Ray Bradbury is still untouched by me!! as to the Narayan Gangopadhyay collection, prev yr I actually went to College st 1st where that copy was also exhausted. yeah this year I'll ask them for the vol!!

If you go through the book "Aro Satyajit", you should find a story "Mangal i Sarga" that is a translation of a famous story of Ray Bradbury. It is an excellent one. I have read merely a few stories of him.

Have you gone through the stories or novels of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle other than Sherlock Holmes and Professor Challenger? Those are also excellent.

Right but the entire translations of English adventure stories of Ray can be found in 'Braziler Kaalo Bagh'. Yes Conan Doyle is fantastic, I've read around 50 odd stories other than Holmes and Challenger by Doyle. These are just superb.

I think that you must be a member of your local library. Please ask them whether they possess the Volume - I of the well known Bengali magazine Rang Mashal that most probably published in early thirty's. If you can find this in some other libraries also (may be with the help of some of your friends), I will be grateful to you.

anirban said...

Sorry, but the library, that I'm member of is a very small one and I've been its member for only an year or so! I'm sure they don't possess magazines of the like u mentioned! I'll surely inform u abt it if I ever come across the same.
